Volunteer Driver Authorization
Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students is always our highest priority. While volunteers play a valuable role in supporting learning, building relationships, and enriching our school community, they are also placed in positions of trust and responsibility.
All volunteer drivers are required to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) before transporting students. This is a mandatory step for any situation where volunteers may be alone with students or where direct staff supervision is minimal.
If you wish to volunteer as a driver for upcoming field trips, the following items must be submitted to the school office prior to transporting students (copies can be made at the office):
- The completed Volunteer Driver Authorization Form (see updated version attached)
- Confirmation of CRC Submission (see instructions below).
- A copy of your current Driver’s License
- A copy of your insurance for your vehicle
How to Complete an Criminal Record Check (CRC)
Process: We are pleased to share that the CRC process is now online, quick to complete, and free of charge for school volunteers. CRCs are valid for two years. You will need a specific Richmond School District Access Code (see attachments for instructions).
Submission: Once you have completed your CRC, please email or print a copy of the submission confirmation and provide it to the school office, along with your other driving documents.
Please note: Criminal Record Checks may also be required for volunteers (field trips or in-school support) based on your assigned responsibilities. The process to submit this Criminal Record Check is the same as described above.
Thank you for your understanding and for your continued dedication to supporting our students’ learning experiences outside the classroom. Your cooperation with this new process helps us keep our school community safe.
