Our School Gathers Together for Our Remembrance Day Assembly

Our Remembrance Day Assembly was the first time since the pandemic that we gathered together as a whole community - students, staff and parents. Leading up to the day, staff reviewed the expectations with students since it had been a few years since students would have experienced a large gathering such as this one. Student emcees were chosen and they worked hard to overcome nervousness and to practice speaking clearly into the microphone, another experience that they have not had the opportunity to have over the past few years. Parents and families were invited to attend their first assembly in three years.

The assembly was a huge success, as students exceeded expectations of respectful behaviour and active listening skills. The presentations from the students were heartfelt and beautifully sung, and the wreath laying ceremony respectful and honouring. Our guest bagpiper added beauty to our moments of reflection and gratitude for the country we live in, and the peaceful lives we lead. After the assembly, parents and staff provided positive feedback on the lovely presentations during the assembly, and the fact that we were able to gather as a school community. We are looking forward to being able to gather together more often in the year to come!
