City Centre Elementary School Name Approved
The Richmond Board of Education has approved the name City Centre Elementary School for the district’s newest elementary school, located at 8671 Odlin Crescent.
A School Naming Committee was established in June 2025 to oversee the process, review submissions and provide a recommendation to the board. A public naming submission period was open from September 25 to December 31, 2025, with submissions received from students, parents and guardians, staff and community members.
The list of names submitted for consideration reflected a wide range of perspectives and community values, including educational leadership, community contribution, cultural and Indigenous significance, historical relevance and geographical identity.
The School Naming Committee reviewed all submissions in accordance with board policy and brought forward a recommendation for board consideration. The approved name reflects the school’s geographic location within Richmond’s City Centre.
The board extends its appreciation to the many community members who participated in the naming process and looks forward to welcoming students and families when City Centre Elementary School opens in September 2026.
