Numeracy Focus 2025-2026

Numeracy

What does our data tell us?

Through examining the FSA data for the district and our school, as well as Report Card proficiency data from K-7, and the Learning Satisfaction Survey Data, we’ve concluded that our population requires additional teaching and learning strategies to support the area of numeracy.

For the 2025-2026 school year, we will have a school-wide focus on Math, specifically, number sense and computational thinking. Through this focus, our goal is to collectively build student capacity in math and further develop how students see themselves as mathematical learners.

To Support Professional Learning:

  • Staff will look at our current data sets and determine where we need to focus our work
  • The district Numeracy Consultant will be available to support staff in planning, instruction, reflection, and assessment.
  • Lunch and after-school sessions will be held to support professional learning.
  • Professional Development Days - Focus on developing professional growth in mathematics instruction (planning, differentiation, routines, assessment)

Guiding Questions:

What instructional strategies or routines can we use to develop computational fluency?

How can we use materials to support students’ exploration and representation of computational fluency concepts?

How might we support the use of mathematical language and vocabulary?

How might we differentiate Math lessons to meet the needs of all learners?

How can we encourage flexible ways of knowing and assessing?
